This two-morning online training course explains how the universal credit (UC) ‘Complex Needs’ rules work, who is covered, and what this should mean for UC claimants. It also covers how you can ensure the Department for Work and Pensions recognises ‘Complex Needs’ status. 

This half-day course looks at the transitional protection available to claimants on migration from legacy benefits to universal credit (UC). It focuses on the protection available for claimants getting income-related ESA, the benefit that will be the subject of most remaining migration activity during 2025

This course looks in detail at some of the more difficult advice topics around the work capability assessment (WCA). Aimed at advisers with a good background knowledge of the WCA rules, the course focuses on the ‘substantial risk’ criteria and how to apply them to clients who do not fit into point-scoring categories. The course also looks at how to optimise WCA challenges at the revision and appeal stages by taking a technical approach, based on identifying the relevant regulations and supporting case law.

This advanced level course looks in detail at the social security rights of EEA nationals in the UK. It provides an opportunity for advisers who are familiar with some of the more commonly occurring scenarios to focus on specific complex areas and recent significant developments.

Universal credit (UC) changes all the time, as the law is updated, tribunals and courts interpret the law, and it is implemented in practice. This course is an opportunity for experienced advisers to get up to date with the latest developments.
