About this course
This advanced level course looks in detail at the social security rights of EEA nationals in the UK. It provides an opportunity for advisers who are familiar with some of the more commonly occurring scenarios to focus on specific complex areas and recent significant developments.
The course covers:
- The main ways in which the European co-ordination rules can affect entitlements to disability, carers’ and child benefits, and how to determine who these rules apply to
- Recent significant changes in legislation and caselaw in particular affecting which EEA nationals can access benefits that require a right to reside
This course is aimed at those who advise European nationals in Scotland on their benefit entitlement regularly, including disability and carers’ benefits, and help with challenging decisions. Those with less experience should book instead on the standard level course, Benefits for EEA nationals.
If you also advise non-European nationals you should also book on the course, Benefits for non-EEA nationals.
The course will be delivered online via Zoom from 10am to 1pm each day with a half hour break from 11.15 – 11.45.
It is a practical course, delivered using a combination of trainer presentation, exercises and group discussion. Participants will need a Wi-Fi connection and a suitable device to access the internet. It is not recommended to join via a mobile phone.
