About this course
Migration to universal credit (UC) might be over, but transitional elements in UC are likely to be with us for years to come.
This half-day course looks at the transitional protection that was available to claimants on moving from legacy benefits to UC, and how that transitional protection will reduce or end over time. Using practical examples, it will empower advisers to answer tricky questions about how future changes of circumstances might affect a transitional element (for someone who has gone through managed migration to UC) or a transitional SDP element.
The course will cover:
- The transitional element – entitlement, calculation, and recurring problems
- The transitional SDP element – entitlement, rates, and extra amounts relating to EDP and DP
- Changes of circumstances that reduce or ‘erode’ transitional protection
- The four triggers that can end transitional protection immediately
This course is intended for advisers with a good understanding of the main UC rules.
