About this course
This training course focuses on universal credit (UC), the centre piece of the Government’s welfare reform programme.
UC is fully rolling out across the UK and applies to working age claimants, whether they are in work or not. Expanding managed migration plans means that UC will become the main means tested benefit for working aged people very shortly. Unfortunately, UC also comes with a reputation for delays and problems relating to poor decision-making, as well as difficulties arising from the UC computer system.
The course covers:
- The basic rules that define UC entitlement
- Work search conditionality
- The impact of early Migration
- How claims are processed
- Changes of circumstances
- Assisting vulnerable clients
- Summary of what happens when Managed Migration arrives
- How UC is calculated (summary)
- UC Maximum Amount versus Income - overview
For dedicated training on UC migration, see our half-day Universal Credit – Managed Migration training and two-morning experienced level training on Universal Credit Migration – The End of the Line.
