Adult disability payment - an introduction
Next date
About this course
Adult disability payment (ADP) is a new Scottish benefit aimed at supporting working-age adults who have extra care needs or mobility difficulties because of a disability. It replaces personal independence payment in Scotland. Getting an award of ADP can significantly increase income and so it is a crucial benefit for advisers and others to know about. This introductory level course will give you an understanding of the main rules and help you to identify people who may be entitled.
The course covers:
- Who is entitled to ADP
- How to claim
- How the ADP assessment works
- How personal independence payment claimants will be transferred to ADP
This course is aimed at those with little or no experience of ADP or personal independence payment. More experienced advisers should book on Transferring to Scottish disability benefits.
The course will be delivered online via Zoom from 10am to 1pm with a half hour break from 11.15 – 11.45.
It is a practical course, delivered using a combination of trainer presentation, exercises and group discussion. Participants will need a Wi-Fi connection and a suitable device to access the internet. It is not recommended to join via a mobile phone.
