About this course
Universal credit (UC) is the main means-tested benefit for working-age people. Predictably, it keeps advisers busy.
This essential three-morning training course offers benefit advisers a comprehensive overview of UC, looking at eligibility rules, how to calculate entitlement, and the practicalities of making and maintaining a claim.
The course covers:
- The rules of UC entitlement
- How claims are made and processed
- Calculating the UC award
- Work-related requirements
- An introduction to the work capability assessment
- Assisting vulnerable clients
For in-depth training on challenging UC decisions, see our companion course UC – disputes and appeals.
For our dedicated course on the UC rules for ill and disabled claimants, see UC – work capability assessment and disability rules.
For a more detailed overview of the rules on the UC housing costs element, see UC – housing costs.
