About this course
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to personal independence payment (PIP), the main adult disability benefit in England and Wales.
Using a range of practical examples, the course looks at who can claim PIP, how to claim, and how claims are assessed. It identifies a checklist of considerations for advisers completing the PIP2 questionnaire, and includes best practice suggestions on everything from getting further medical evidence to helping clients prepare for an assessment.
This course is aimed at advisers new to PIP or looking to improve their confidence in supporting clients with their PIP.
The course covers:
- How PIP entitlement is decided
- How variable conditions are assessed
- Making a claim by phone or online
- Completing the PIP2 questionnaire
- Types of supporting evidence
- The assessment process
- Decisions and reassessment
For in-depth training on challenging PIP decisions, see our companion course PIP – disputes and appeals.
