About this course

Carer support payment has now completely replaced carer’s allowance in Scotland. The next step is to make further improvements to the financial support for carers from March 2026, including a new carer additional person payment. This course updates you on these latest changes, and what they mean for carers you work with. Maximising carer support income can significantly increase household income, so it is a crucial benefit for advisers and support workers to understand. 

 The course covers: 

  • Overview of the new carer support 
  • Carer additional person payment
  • Scottish carer supplement
  • How carer support affects entitlement to other benefits and devolved support 


The course will be delivered online via Zoom from 10am to 1pm with a half hour break from 11.15 – 11.45. 

It is a practical course, delivered using a combination of trainer presentation, exercises and group discussion. Participants will need a Wi-Fi connection and a suitable device to access the internet. It is not recommended to join via a mobile phone.
