Highlighting financial support and entitlements
Balwearie High School in Fife has a multi-route approach to getting messages about help and entitlements out to families.
At Balwearie High School, whenever guidance teachers are in touch with families, they’ll always check whether there’s anything else they can help with and direct parents and carers to a pop up on the school website offering information about financial support.
A parent noticeboard in the school reception area offers details of how to claim entitlements like free school meals, clothing grants and other benefits along with details of local charities and support agencies in three languages. The school also group calls, texts and emails parents about entitlements, food parcels, supermarket vouchers and the uniform bank.
