How we work
Our team:
- supports pupils in schools to run youth-led action research projects on child poverty
- gathers the views of children and young people across England through surveys and focus groups
- coordinates a Youth Panel, supporting young people to have their views heard by policy makers
Youth-led research in schools
Our work in schools supports pupils to explore poverty in their school community, undertake research with peers and share findings with school leaders to bring about change. For more information, please get in touch with us.
CPAG’s Youth Panel
The Youth Panel is made up of young people aged 14-21 in London. Panel members work together to explore the impact of poverty on children and young people and to call for change within and beyond the education system.
The Youth Panel influences and supports CPAG’s wider work. Members campaign to end child poverty by speaking directly to decision makers.
Opportunities and activities:
- Monthly meetings, online and in person, led by specialist staff.
- Training that supports members to develop their skills and confidence.
- Trips that provide access to public buildings and professional spaces.
- Meetings with policy makers and people in positions of power, including in government.
- Representing CPAG at external events and conferences.
- Connecting and campaigning with other young people on a range of social justice issues.
Youth Panel members are committed to raising awareness of child poverty. They speak to other young people to highlight the realities of children and young people’s lives and what can be done to make things better. They care about issues related to poverty, including its impact on education, health, housing, social inclusion and youth-led change.
How to get involved
Applications to join the Youth Panel are currently closed. However, if you are a young person interested in joining our Youth Panel, or a member of school staff or professional interested in finding out more, please email our Youth Participation Officer, Zoe Gray, [email protected].
