Our Webinar 'At a premium – transitional SDP element unpicked’ took place on 8 June 2022.

The Webinar focused on the transitional SDP (severe disability premium) element in universal credit.  As the government was compelled to introduce this amount to protect the incomes of severely disabled people when moving onto universal credit from legacy benefits under the natural migration process, we discussed ways to maximise income and make sure clients do not miss out.

• What is the transitional SDP element in universal credit 
• Who can get it and how much is it  

Missing severe disability premium   

• What happens if personal independence payment or adult disability payment is awarded after moving onto universal credit 
• Backdating transitional SDP element

• When the transitional SDP element ends 

Presentations were delivered by CPAG in Scotland’s welfare rights advisers Angela Toal, Henri Krishna and Mark Willis and the event was hosted by Will Hadwen, a freelance welfare rights worker for CPAG in Scotland and a freelance trainer.
