Disability living allowance (DLA) is the main way of meeting the additional needs of many children yet it is under claimed and can be hard to understand. This course looks at the DLA rules as they apply to children. It considers how to fill in the form to get the best outcome for the child.

Advisers in Scotland may wish to book on the Child Disability Payment course. Child disability payment (CDP) is a new Scottish benefit that helps meet the additional needs of disabled children. It will replace DLA for children in Scotland and will start being rolled out during 2021. The course will be held on 25 November 2021.
Methods of delivery and timings
This full-day Standard level course runs from 10.00 to 13.00 across two mornings, with a 30 minute break on each day at 11.15. It is delivered live online, via Zoom, with CPAG trainer Jo Silcox.
It is a practical course delivered using a combination of trainer presentation, exercises and group discussion. Participants will be provided with supporting e-learning material, including PowerPoint slides and access to exercises and activities hosted on CPAG’s e-learning platform.

Participants will need a Wi-Fi connection and a suitable device to access the internet. Prior to the event, participants will receive an email with a link which they should use to join the event and access supporting materials.
