Benefits and Domestic Abuse, 11 & 12 December 2023 ONLINE

This one-day course is aimed at those supporting women fleeing from domestic abuse.

Many women fleeing domestic violence will need to claim benefits in their own right, and for the majority of cases that will be universal credit (UC), especially if they have children.

The course covers:

• The benefits available to women fleeing domestic abuse
• How the introduction of universal credit affects these claimants
• The effect of the benefit cap on claimants
• The process for challenging decisions

The course is suitable for those with little or no benefit knowledge.

Methods of delivery and timings

This full-day Introductory level course runs from 10am to 1pm, across two consecutive mornings, with a 30 minute break on each day at 11.15am. It is delivered live online, via Zoom.

It is a practical course delivered using a combination of trainer presentation, exercises and group discussion. Participants will be provided with supporting e-learning material, including PowerPoint slides and training packs, hosted on CPAG’s e-learning platform.

What you will need

Participants will need a Wi-Fi connection and a suitable device to access the internet. Prior to the event, participants will receive an email with a link which they should use to join the event and access supporting materials.
