About this course
Managed migration to universal credit (UC) is at an advanced stage. Many claimants who have been migrated to UC have received transitional protection, which goes some way to ensuring that they are no worse-off on UC. Unfortunately, that protection is temporary.
Advisers are already being asked for strategic advice on preserving transitional protection for as long as possible. Others may be approached by clients who think their transitional protection has been reduced or removed in error.
This webinar will provide a comprehensive outline of the rules on how transitional protection ends. It will cover the rules on erosion, which can reduce transitional protection over time, as well as the triggers that can cause transitional protection to stop outright.
After providing an overview of the legislation and guidance, and highlighting some ‘difficult’ cases, we will look in detail at recent case-law and some prospective legal arguments.
Attendees will come away from the webinar with a thorough understanding of this area of the UC regime, equipped to give effective advice.
Speakers will include:
- Carri Swann – CPAG Welfare Rights Worker who has worked on CPAG’s Managed Migration Project
- Owen Stevens – CPAG Welfare Rights Worker providing advice on all aspects of universal credit.
- Lynsey Dalton – CPAG Solicitor with experience of the public law principles relevant to this area.
Method of delivery and timings:
- The webinar will run from 1:30pm to 4pm on Wednesday 4th December 2024.
- It will be delivered live online, via Zoom, and there will be an opportunity for attendees to ask the speakers questions.
- Participants will receive an email link, a few days before the webinar, to allow access to the event.
Ticket prices start from £68 for CPAG members and £85 for non-members.
