Today, Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) in Scotland and NHS Health Scotland have jointly launched a suite of resources to raise awareness of school costs, prompt discussion and support action on child poverty in schools.

New poverty related Attainment Challenge Partnership project launched by Young Scot

A new Attainment Challenge Partnership has been launched by Young Scot. Working with six local authorities, Transport Scotland and Improvement Services the partnership will utilise the smart-enabled Young Scot National Entitlement Card to deliver new targeted and bespoke local smart-entitlements and opportunities, focussed on travel, health and wellbeing, to tackle inequalities, improve attainment in education and challenge rural poverty.

Report of the Education and Skills Committee inquiry into poverty and attainment published

The Scottish Parliament Education and Skills Committee has made a number of recommendations relevant to Cost of the School Day following its inquiry into the impact of poverty on attainment and achievement of school-aged children and young people.

Benefit choices when a disabled young person lives at home and is still in education

This factsheet is a flowchart providing basic information about when young people aged 16 to 19 with a disability or health problem can claim employment and support allowance; and when their parent(s) can continue to receive benefit for them.

Extended schools

CPAG has published a new report with the University of Sheffield on extended schools. There has been a slow creep from the systematic, statutory intent of the extended schools programme to the piecemeal landscape of today, in which charitable provision has played an increasing role.
