We argue for the value of high-quality, personalised, one-to-one support, with investment in a high quality relationship between adviser and claimant. This should be driven by a positive culture of collaboration and voluntary engagement, and underpinned by a public service ethos, focused on the best interests of clients and assisting them to achieve their goals, rather than a target-driven approach with heavy emphasis on monitoring and ensuring compliance. Claimant commitments should be two-way, setting out support which will be provided as well as requirements on the claimant.
