In advance of tomorrow's (19 February 2014) stage 3 debate on the Children and Young People (Scotland) Bill, the Scottish Free School Meals Campaign produced a briefing for MSPs.
The Scottish Free School Meals Campaign is urging MSPs to accept amendments 192 & 201 to the Bill, as lodged by Adam Ingram MSP. The amendments would alter section 53 & 133 of the Education (Scotland) Act 1980, allowing the Scottish Government to give legislative effect to its policy commitment to provide universal free school lunches to children in P1-P3.
These amendments are supported by the following organisations as members of the Scottish Free School Meals Campaign:
- Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS)
- Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) in Scotland
- The Poverty Alliance
- Children 1st
- Save the Children
- Shelter Scotland
- One Parent Families in Scotland (OPFS)
- Children in Scotland
- The Church and Society Council of the Church of Scotland
