Benefits for disabled students

30 April 2019

There are some places left for the following half day, standard level course on 8 May in Glasgow;

This NEW half-day course aims to provide an understanding of the social security benefits and tax credits that can be claimed by students with a disability or long-term health condition. It will also cover the situation where someone falls ill during their course, which may require them to take time out. The course provides up-to-date information on universal credit for students with a disability, and on what is happening with the devolution of disability benefits to Scotland.

There are lots of changes for disabled students claiming benefits, both happening now and in the pipeline. Make sure you know how to advise disabled students correctly about their entitlement, and how to recognise when they may be able to stay on or claim employment and support allowance, instead of claiming universal credit.
